Where Thread becomes Theatre. Originating about 1530 from the Italian Characters of Commedia dell' arte Pierrot the Sad Clown forms a love triangle with Columbine and Harlequin. Pierrot Loves Columbine, Columbine Loves Harlequin and Harlequin outwits everyone.
He is a seated clown but his height is approximately 23 inches 50cms. He required 4-5 devoted weeks of careful crochet construction, structural shaping and delicately hand-painted expression. He is a sculpted fibre artwork created for collectors who cherish symbolism, history and quiet theatrical beauty.
Pierrot would need a doll stand if you decided to pose him at his full height but ideally he is made as a sitting clown with his bottom weighted with clean steel balls.
